ISO standard set
The International Organization for Standardization, commonly known as ISO, is an international standard-setting organization consisting of representatives of national standardization organizations. This non-governmental organization on a large scale establishes general and partial standards to harmonize different global standards. In practice, ISO operates as a consortium with strong connections with governments. This institute determines all kinds of global commercial and industrial standards. The ISO center is located in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO started its official work on February 23, 1947. This organization promotes global economic and industrial standards to coordinate the exchanges of different industries and techniques.

The ISO international standard organization is made up of its members, and the member organizations (main members or member babies) are the representatives of standardization authorities in their respective countries, so only one organization can be a member from each country.

Other members of the organization
One of the other members of the ISO international standard organization is the correspondent member, which is usually an organization from a country that has not had any activity related to standardization and standard development. This organization only obtains information in cases where it is beneficial and does not participate in technical activities. Another member (ISO) is a subscriber member that countries with micro economies can have this membership. By the end of January 2001, the International Standard Organization had 138 members, including 91 main members, 36 corresponding members and 11 joint members. Iran Institute of Standards and Industrial Research is one of its main members and participates in the development of international standards.
