DIN standard (abbreviation of Deutsches Institut für Normung) is the national standard institute of Germany and ISO branch in this country. This group was founded in 1917 as Normenausschuß der deutschen Industrie and presented its first standards with the prefix NADI. With the expansion of this collection and the compilation of non-industrial standards, in 1926 its title was changed to Deutscher Normenausschuß. In 1975, when it was recognized as the official compiler of German national standards, its title was changed once again to Deutsches Institut für Normung, and since then its standards are presented with the DIN prefix. This old institute of standards is used all over the world today and covers almost all aspects of technology with more than 30,000 standard titles. Germany’s DIN standard is one of the strictest standards in the world, and most of the world’s major manufacturers use this standard to produce their products.

The country of Iran established its first standard institute in 1332 and became a member of ISO in 1360. Before accepting ISO, Iran used the DIN standard, especially in the field of drawing, and even now, the DIN standard is used in the design and drawing offices of some factories. In our country, in cases where the ISO standard has not been proposed, the DIN standard is followed.
